Accursio Dimino
- Research Institute Member, Institute for Applicable Computing and Engineering (IACE)
- Senior Lecturer in Construction, School of Computing Engineering and Creative Industries
Accursio’s career began as an indentured apprentice bricklayer, giving him a solid foundation in practical skills and craftsmanship. His early involvement in regional brickwork competitions led to his membership on the Education Committee for The Guild of Bricklayers (Southern Region), where he contributed to organising competitions, producing technical drawings, and judging events.
At just 21, Accursio started his first teaching role, but his ambition to broaden his expertise took him overseas. He spent 18 months in Australia, working on a variety of residential and commercial construction projects. Starting with scheduling and programming responsibilities, he progressed into construction management on a major development at Curtin University, which included student accommodation and lecture theatres.
Upon returning to the UK, Accursio worked as an Assistant Site Manager for a design-and-build company before establishing his own successful building contracting and development business. His entrepreneurial experience, combined with practical industry knowledge, gave him a unique perspective that he now shares with students.
Throughout his academic career, Accursio has held several lecturing positions, taking responsibility for programme quality and curriculum development. His leadership and dedication led to senior roles, including Programme Manager and Deputy Head of Construction.
Accursio holds a BSc (Honours) in Building Processes, awarded in 2002 along with ICIOB status, and a BA in Professional Studies in Post-Compulsory Education from Oxford Brookes University (2003). These qualifications reflect his commitment to both the construction industry and education.
Today, Accursio combines his hands-on construction experience with academic expertise to deliver high-quality teaching in areas such as construction site management, apprenticeships, and built environment studies. His work supports students in developing the skills and knowledge needed for successful careers in the construction sector
Accursio is an active member of British Cycling, participating in both leisure and competitive events. He also volunteers for UK Cycling initiatives, supporting charitable causes such as Alzheimer’s Research UK.
