Writing in, about, and from the classroom
Research Output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding Chapter Peer-review
Abstract
This chapter offers a brief, personal account of the motivation for and development of the book. It positions the book as an act of “writing out.” “Writing out” has a dual meaning: writing out from the classroom (dispatches from the classroom); writing that takes place outside of or beyond the classroom. This chapter introduces the book's central concerns: the importance of writing to schooled English particularly, and to education generally.
