Abstract

This paper farms part of a continuing analysis of data from a project which is investigating the role of social services in community mental health. It focuses on a sub-sample of social work cases where clients were supported by relatives. Factors which are associated with the psychological distress found among relatives and which should underpin social work assessment are examined. This is followed by an investigation of how much help is currently given by social workers and whether the mental health problems of relatives are alleviated.
