Abstract

Improving sustainable performance of the supply chain is regarded by researchers and practitioners as an integrated part of companies’ sustainable strategy and also a major challenge facing companies. Based on the theories of knowledge-based view (KBV) and natural resource-based view (NRBV), this paper explores the role supply chain knowledge management (KM) can play in building sustainable supply chains of firms. This paper developed research propositions and a conceptual framework depicting the positive role of KM in the development of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) strategies and operations, and the subsequent gaining of sustainable competitive advantage by firms.
