Student Success Innovation Fund: Prompting Enhanced Interviews – Improving Question Design for PhD and DBA Students

This project delivers one day “Prompting Enhanced Interviews” bootcamps at the University of Northampton and the University of Bedfordshire for PhD/DBA students who use qualitative interviewing. Through short inputs and guided practice, participants submit and iteratively revise their draft interview guides, moving from abstract, leading and “why” questions to concrete, memory sensitive prompts and probes. The project enhances student success by improving methodological confidence and interview data quality, generates anonymised before/after examples to inform a forthcoming methods book on prompting enhanced interviews, and produces sharable resources and evaluation evidence for learning and teaching enhancement.
