I have worked in the field of education for over fifteen years and have a professional background in sexual health and youth work.
I started working in higher education in 2013 and have taught on a range of programmes exploring the lives and experiences of children, young people and families.
My research interests broadly relate to youth transitions, inequality and constructions of risk. I have published extensively on the portrayal of higher education in popular media as part of the ongoing Students on Screen research project with Dr Bethan Michael-Fox.
My research also focuses on trauma-informed practices in higher education. Working with Dr Oli Belas, we are interested in how trauma-informed practices can be further developed and implemented in the context of higher education.

Committee Member for a European Research Network exploring 'Child Voices, Participation, Well-being and Resilience of Children in the Era of Polycrisis'.
External Assessor for the Open University, Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies.
Member of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB).
Other projects: I am the producer and host for the 'Working with Children and Young People podcast'. The podcast features special guests to explore different career options relating to working with children and young people. Listen on all major podcasting platforms.
