Personal profile

Biography

My clinical expertise includes community substance use services and acute mental health wards, having been in employed in both settings. In 2022, I took a position at a higher education institution as a lecturer and later progressed to senior lecturer.

I have an MSc in Mental Health Recovery and Social Inclusion, and I am passionate about the benefits of authentic coproduction in healthcare. I am currently working on several research projects, one of which focuses on service user involvement in higher education and another on student mental health nurses’ preparation to support people with substance use needs in practice.

I enjoy delivering and developing innovative teaching strategies that are underpinned by evidence-based practice. I possess a comprehensive understanding of mental health nursing theory and practice, and I am adept at translating complex concepts into engaging and accessible lessons for students. My teaching fosters a holistic approach to mental health nursing, and this is underpinned by my research and continuous professional development.
