Personal profile
Biography
I am the course coordinator for the BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at the University of Bedfordshire.
I believe in the transformative nature of clothes. Serving as conduit of our most inner needs and desires, they are more than just cloth and thread. I am a fashion educator with experience in both conceptual and technical skills. Well versed in the theoretical frameworks of fashion, I aim to underpin hands-on creative practice with academic inquiry.
I trained in Menswear design, and developed a namesake brand, which ran successfully for a few seasons. The brand manufactured sport inspired, directional garments for the young professional. During my time as a menswear designer, I was always interested in the meaning of things, and how this can be used and manipulated. In turn, my work focuses on identity and language as a tool for making. I focus on narrative building, linguistic analysis and semiotics as excellent tools for design.
